29th Nov – 2nd Dec
Euro-Mediterranean Symposium on Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy
Welcome letter
The organizing committee is delighted to announce that the 11th Euro-Mediterranean Symposium on Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (EMSLIBS) will be held in Gijón (Spain) from November 29 to December 2, 2021.
The original date had to be delayed due to the unique circumstances that we’re experiencing, with the confidence that we will be able to enjoy a face-to-face congress by the end of 2021.
Nevertheless, the organizing committee wants to reassure our participants that even if circumstances end up working against us, the 11th EMSLIBS will go on as a 100% online conference.
This event is a four-day conference and includes plenary talks, delivered by internationally recognized speakers, and oral sessions, where invited and selected contributors present their most relevant results. Participants will be able to visit the permanent poster exhibition and to meet the respective authors in the poster defence session. Moreover, 11th EMSLIBS will provide an excellent opportunity for suppliers of analytical instrumentation, relevant sample preparation equipment, consumables and chemicals, for LIBS and other related spectroscopy techniques, to exhibit at the conference. Additional entertainment will also be assured with various social activities organized throughout the conference.
The 11th EMSLIBS programme will comprise several hot-topics of the LIBS community, with sessions focused on subjects such as fundamentals, nano-LIBS, imaging or hyphenated techniques.
We are also pleased to announce that participation in workshops will be available.
The conference will take place at the Gijón Convention Centre -a large, bright building with a wide variety of meeting rooms, an 800-seat auditorium and, adjacent to it, 5,000 square meters for commercial exhibition, poster sessions and coffee break. The Convention Centre, located at 7 minutes walking distance of the city main beach, is surrounded with several premium hotels nearby, from which one could get to the scientific sessions on foot.
Gijón, the largest and most cosmopolitan city in Asturias, is at just 25 minutes from the Airport. Open to the Atlantic, where blue and green merge, the best of wild Asturias can be enjoyed without leaving the city. This lively, vivacious region has two thousand years of experience in hospitality: it stands at one end of the “Silver Route” and is a stage of the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela (St. James’s Way). We are keen to make the 11th EMSLIBS a successful scientific event and, also, a celebration of the return of our normal life. We therefore invite you to participate so that, together, we can make this meeting into a living forum for the exchange of ideas, the birth of fresh collaborations and to meet our old friends as well as making new ones.
